Rainbow Lake is known as one of the premier fishing destinations in all of Western New York. That’s because our spring-fed waters are home to an abundance of excitedly catch bass, bluegill, perch and pike. Beginner and expert anglers alike will enjoy fishing along two miles of shoreline or by boat. Bring your own rod and tackle or pick up supplies at our on-site country store. Compete to catch the largest bass during our annual Father’s Day fishing derby at the lake!

The spring-fed lake offers both expansive boating recreation with meandering inlets and coves along with 30-foot depths for fishing. Campers staying at our mountain campground will find the lake’s scale impressive compared to other destinations. Whether paddleboarding from one of nearly 800 lakeside campsites or casting off the dock, Rainbow Lake invites endless enjoyment.

At Rainbow Lake, part of the Allegany Mountain Resort, anglers can expect a diverse fishing experience. The lake is teeming with a variety of fish such as bass, bluegill, perch, and pike. This variety caters to both amateur and seasoned fishermen looking for a rewarding catch. 

Additionally, the resort’s location within the scenic landscape of Western New York enhances the overall fishing experience. Guests staying at the RV campground can easily access the lake, making it convenient for spontaneous or planned fishing trips. This setting is perfect for those who appreciate both the thrill of fishing and the beauty of nature.

Swimming in Rainbow Lake itself is not permitted, but don’t worry, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the water at the resort! We have two outdoor pools and one indoor pool, providing ample opportunities for swimming, relaxing, and water-based fun. These pools are a great alternative for everyone looking to take a dip, splash around, or simply unwind by the water.

Yes, you may bring any boat up to 16′. Gas motors are restricted on serene Rainbow Lake, but electric trolling motors can access fishing hot spots. The majority of campground guests embark via paddle power in rented canoes, kayaks and paddleboards that require no vehicle or gas. Lakeside boathouse rentals mean Rainbow Lake cruising is available steps from your campsite.

Keep watch for ducks, songbirds, painted turtles, bullfrogs and other species relying on Rainbow Lake’s healthy ecosystem for habitat and nourishment. Deer frequently wander the campground’s forested ridges to access evening drinks from the lake shoreline as well. An occasional bald eagle sighting overtime Rainbow Lake makes for an iconic and unforgettable camping memory. Be camera ready!
